Non-Profit Organization for Empowering Victims of Domestic Violence
When people think of domestic violence, they mostly think about physical abuse. Well, domestic violence is much more than physical abuse, and can also include many other kinds of abuse such as emotional, psychological, financial and sexual. Domestic violence can happen to anyone. 1 in 3 women are victims of domestic violence worldwide.
To serve the victims of domestic violence, to empower them, to help them lead a normal life with hope, purpose, and faith, Women Rising Above Abuse (WRAA) – a nonprofit organization for domestic violence victims – is all set out to empower, strength and uplift those that have suffered from abuse.
We specialize in empowering victims of domestic violence through journalizing, mentorship, counseling, and workshops. The main aim of our organization is to support domestic abuse victims and help them come to terms with their past abuse and move forward to a life of redemption.
Journalizing – Journalizing is recommended keeping in mind your emotional safety and helping you gain empowerment. Journalizing can help you clarify your thoughts and feelings, gain perspective on a situation, and solve problems more effectively. It is considered to be a safe way to process traumatic elements of your abuse that one cannot share with anyone or even say out loud.
Mentorship – In the process of mentorship, we have mentors and also recruit volunteers to support women with domestic violence so that they can make plans for the future and move on in the way they want to. The mentors help survivors gain more control of their lives by improving their confidence and self-esteem, help them make well-informed decisions and plans for the future.
Counseling – Being in an abusive relationship can be very much frightening. The counselors appointed by our women and youth empowerment groups can help you overcome this difficult time by providing support and information. This, in turn, helps the victim acknowledge their feelings and figure out the healing process. It also lets them decide what kind of life they want to create for themselves in order to move forward.
Workshops – For empowering victims of domestic violence, we think workshops are one of the comprehensive approaches in the prevention of violence against women and children. In the workshops, the victims are being provided with the best tools to come through abusive situations. We provide tools and connect our women and girls to the right people for the best personal outcome. We also help them manage things which they can on their own.
How You Can Render Your Support?
